A three-hour cut off will apply at the Gantry change over (21.1km) for all Dayboro to Mt Mee events. Field limits will be applied in the 42.2km events. First in basis will secure a starting position. Drink stations will be available along the route, but it is mandatory to carry a drink bottle all the way. Minimum vehicular traffic access on the road as all change over runners and supporters will travel on the Mt Mee-Woodford Rd to access changeover points. Course is over bitumen, dirt and grass and is essentially an uphill run. You could say arguable the toughest marathon in Australia, passing through the Mt Mee State Forest.
A SIX HOUR TIME LIMIT APPLIES FOR ALL EVENTS.

Leg 1 – Dayboro: distance 6.0km
6.00am Solo run
6.30am Relay - 2 and 3 person teams, Ist runner only
Runner 1:
Start out front of information kiosk in William Street, Dayboro. Run to T-intersection in front of pub, turn right into McKenzie St. Head out of town to Lacey’s Creek Rd. Turn right into Mt. Pleasant Rd near Reservoir at 2.1km. Stay on Mt. Pleasant Rd all the way to intersection of Mt. Brisbane Rd. This stage finishes on the right in front of entrance to the Mt. Pleasant Community Hall. Toilet facilities are available. All this section is on bitumen and is reasonably flat.
Stage 2 (Map) - stage-2-2009.pdf
Leg 2 – Mt. Pleasant - Gantry: distance 15.0km
Relay – 2 person team, Runner 1 continues
Relay – 3 person team, Runner 2 commences
Start out front of Mt. Pleasant Community Hall running on Mt. Brisbane Rd nearly all of the way to the entrance of Mt. Mee State Forest. First 5.3km is on bitumen and undulating. 1.2km of dirt until causeway and then after a further 100 metres, turn sharp left into forest (Chambers Rd) and hang on all the way to the top. This section is extremely hilly and is all on dirt road. While still on the first hill turn right into Peggs Rd. Road gradually declines for a little then begins to go upwards again. Couple of short up and downs to causeway and up all the way to the bitumen road, turn left into Sellin Rd and travel 700m uphill to finish. Finish line on road opposite the Gantry entry to the carpark.
CHANGEOVER FOR RELAY TEAMS
3 HOUR CUT OFF APPLIES FOR SOLO AND RELAY RUNNERS
Stage 3 (Map) - stage-3-2009.pdf
Leg 3 – Mt. Mee Forest: distance 15.0km
Relay – 2 person team, Runner 2
Relay – 3 person team, Runner 3
Starts at the Gantry on bitumen for 200m. Turn right into Neurum Creek Rd (dirt for rest). This is predominantly a downhill run through beautiful forest scenery. Halfway is at the Rocky Holes Car Park. Continues straight ahead through Eucalyptus forest and finishing in grazing country. Mostly uphill, but with a bit of downhill to keep it interesting. Exit state forest over cattle grid, veer right into Fyfe Rd to the intersection of Settlement Rd. Change over at intersection.
Leg 4 – Mt Mee: distance 6.2km
Relay – 2 person team, Runner 2 continues
Relay – 3 person team, Runner 1 resumes
Turn right to do the extra 700m (350m out & back) to make up the marathon distance (what a view). This section is mostly on bitumen all the way with three hills, one either side of the checkpoint and one at the 4km mark. Stay on Settlement Rd, which veers right after cemetery to become Hausemann Rd. Run to the end, turn right at Robinson Rd passing the Tennis Club Grounds and quick left into Thomas Rd. Another 100 metres, turn left into the Mount Mee Showgrounds, up the drive to finish opposite the amenities block.
UPDATE - 13.04.09
Please note the course alterations. All relays and Solo marathoners will now do an out & back section when arriving at the relay changeover at Fyfe Rd. This 700m section will replace the 1.6km cross country course in the showgrounds. When exiting Fyfe Rd turn right down the hill (sorry about that). By doing this the Relay runners will now cover the full marathon distance.
2 person team - 1/2marathon each = 21.1km
3 person team - runner 1 6.0 + 6.2 = 12.2km.
- runners 2 & 3 each = 15.0km
Cut off times remain the same.
The 10.6km now becomes 10.8km and will run out and back from the showgrounds at Mt Mee to checkpoint 3.
Drink Stations will be at the following places.
1. 6.0km Changeover 1 at Mt Pleasant Hall.
2. 13.6km Entrance to Mt Mee State forest Chambers Rd.
3. 21.1km Changeover 2 opposite Gantry carpark.
4. 28.6km Rocky Hole carpark.
5. 36.0km Changeover 3 corner Fyfe and Settlement Rds.
Course will be indicated with RED TRAQ directional arrows taped to trees, stakes or guideposts.
Elevation is 60m at start rising to 540m in the 21st kilometer where it fluctuates for the rest of the run finishing around 500m.
In our efforts to keep the course traffic free (especially in the forest areas) runners finishing leg 1 will have to return to Dayboro and travel up the Dayboro to Woodford main road. This would be a round trip of 30km to the Gantry. Similarly from the Gantry to Changeover 3 would be about 18km. In this time period the runners will cover 15km. This would affect the 3 person teams. Maybe some carpooling can be arranged if required.

I’ve heard both are tough with significant climbs, but the first half has the most climb. Greg
